Patterns made from coloured stones
Mosaics were a favourite form of decoration for the Romans. We start by introducing you to the manufacturing techniques and the materials used. After a look at the original mosaics in the Roman House, we try our hand at mosaic-making ourselves. Colourful pieces of limestone from original Roman quarries are ready and waiting, along with the tools you will need. While the newly created works of art are drying in their plaster beds, we take a look at the large original Roman mosaics in the cellar of the curia – the ancient town hall.
