The lapidarium – carved in stone
The lapidarium beside the Roman house is a collection of stone monuments at Augusta Raurica. Here you can see a selection of the most important stone objects found throughout the settlement. The statues and sculptures show the type of clothing worn by people in the Roman period, their names, what they worked at and how long they lived. In this way – carved in stone – information was preserved that otherwise would have been lost for ever.
