Catherine Aitken:
Come and see the Roman House!
(Augster Museumshefte 30)
Extract
Ever since it first opened in 1955, visitors have been accompanied through the Domus Romana, the Roman House, by the "Little Guide" written by Rudolf Laur-Belart. With its two
new booklets, the Roman Town of Augusta Raurica would like to introduce its visitors, children and grown-ups, to the newly refurbished Roman House, which opened to the public
in March 2001. The booklet "DOMUS ROMANA. The Roman House" gives background information on the themes of everyday life, domestic habits and the family, while in "Come
and See the Roman House!", lively comic strips intoduce the topic with fun and flair:
Prittusa and Tetto, the two young servants of the well-to-do family of a merchant and town councillor in Augusta Raurica, take visitors on an entertaining tour through the rooms of
the Roman House. On the way they have all sorts of interesting information to give about the rooms, the furnishings and objects, as well as about the inhabitants of the house.
