Archaeology
Augusta Raurica is one of the most important Roman sites in Switzerland. A team of some 60 members work hard every day to unlock this cultural heritage, to restore and conserve the finds and to make them publicly accessible.
As part of numerous current research projects excavations are carried out and the extensive collection of objects and artefacts is cared for by various specialists. Our staff carry out research and undertake restoration and conservation work following the latest internationally accepted guidelines. An important part of the work also entails networking and collaborating with numerous other institutions and universities. Finally, Augusta Raurica also runs its own publishing house which ensures that the ongoing research is published.
Augusta Raurica is much more than just a tourist attraction. Find out more about the interesting work carried out by our team.
