Speed, excitement and heroes – the spectacular chariot races in ancient Rome were a hugely popular attraction. At the Roman Festival, you can experience first-hand what it was like to race in ancient times. With your family as your team, compete against other families. Who will drive and who will steer? Effective teamwork can make all the difference between victory and defeat.

Incidentally, the custom, which is still practised today in Formula 1, that the owner's victory is almost as important as the driver's, began in ancient times. Only the wealthy could afford a racing stable since horses, chariots, and drivers were extremely expensive. Therefore, the chariot races became both a sporting competition and a political propaganda event.
