Living in style: designing Roman walls and pavements
![[Translate to English:] Workshop: Schöner Wohnen - Römische Wände und Böden gestalten](fileadmin/user_upload/1_Besuchen/7_Fuer_Gruppen/2_Workshops/6_Schoener_Wohnen/Augusta_Raurica_Workshop_Schoener_Wohnen_Foto_Susanne_Schenker.jpg)
On a tour of the Roman House with its colourfully decorated interior and a short stroll to the Roman curia you will learn all about Roman interior design including the various finishing techniques.
The emphasis is on the mosaics, on the opus signinum (a water-tight plaster that was used on walls and floors) and on the wall paintings. We will compare the insight gained from modern building biology and architecture with their Roman-period origins.
In the mosaic exhibition in the curia you will have the opportunity to work in small groups creating a fragment of a mosaic and/or wall painting using Roman-period techniques.
Participants in workshops from 12 years of age are required to wear a face mask.
