In the end these individual ointments are filled into small jars to be taken home. Of course there will be a little surprise for the birthday child.

In this special birthday workshop you create step by step fragrant loaves as in ancient times. In teamwork the group starts by milling the grain into flour: Who makes the most rounds on the original Roman mill? After kneading the dough each child forms its personal loaf with (almost) unlimited imagination. Together we monitor the fire in the huge oven: the heat has to be right, so that the bread will come out crispy! Finally every child takes home a fragrant loaf and the birthday child also receives a small surprise.

Meeting place: Roman bakery (“Römische Backstube”)

At the beginning of this special birthday workshop, the children will learn about the different ways clay was processed in ancient times. Then every child can model his or her own pot or create a version of a small Roman statuette. These artworks can be taken home afterwards. The children can also try their hand at the broken sherd-puzzle. In addition, a potter will demonstrate how – as if by a magic – a pot is formed on the potters-wheel. And of course there will be a little surprise for the birthday child at the end.
