The Augst excavation team is currently examining a plot of land on Sichelenstrasse because of a construction project in the heart of the original Roman city area. This area of the ancient city has been little explored at present. On the basis of soundings, cultural layers down to a depth of 3.5 m can be expected.

It is not yet clear in which context the findings are to be placed; private houses and public buildings are possible. On Archaeology Day, curious visitors are invited to visit the site and learn first-hand about the Roman artefacts unearthed there, how they are documented and what can be expected from future works.

When: 10.00, 11.30, 13.00, 14.30, if necessary 16.00. Duration approx. 1 hour.

Where: Sichelenstrasse 13, Augst

What: Guided tours and explanations by the archaeologists in charge of Augusta Raurica.
