Experience archaeology live! Observe the action at an ongoing excavation accompanied by the Augster excavation team and discover more about archaeological structures.

Guided tour of the Augusta Raurica’s archaeological depot
13.00 – 14.00 and 14.30 – 15.30
The 2 million inventoried artefacts have been housed in the Augusta Raurica Collection Centre’s archaeological depot since 2023. On this guided tour, you’ll learn how the artefacts are stored and the system used to locate them. A tour of the impressive depot is definitely worth it!

Admission to the museum and the Roman house, as well as to all listed activities, is free.

Visual impairment
The guided tour of the excavation is not tactile.
A tour of the depot can be organised on request, during which objects can be touched. The rooms of the depot are made tangible by means of temperature differences, distances and hearing.

Hearing impairment
Unfortunately, no assistive technologies are currently available for the excavation tour.
There are currently no assistive technologies available for the depot tour.

Impaired mobility
The Roman house has a mobile ramp.
The archaeological depot has been built to the latest wheelchair-friendly standards. A lift and wheelchair-accessible toilets are available. All paths are paved and levelled.

Impairment due to age
A few seats are available in the tent at the excavation tour.
Seating is available in the Roman House. Folding chairs can be borrowed free of charge from the museum.
There is no seating available during the guided tour of the archaeological depot.

All tours are very information-heavy.
