New construction projects always lead to archaeological rescue excavations. The excavation teams of Augst (BL) and Kaiseraugst (AG) give interested members of the public an insight into their work and offer free guided tours of the excavations.
This year, the excavation team from Augst is working on the edge of the upper town of Augusta Raurica, in a residential area with a view of several temple complexes and an amphitheatre nearby.
It is possible to take a look at the ongoing excavation. Visitors can observe what is happening from the edge of the excavation and discover archaeological structures. They are accompanied by archaeologists.
