Recycling in Roman times?
Discover intriguing facts and plenty of inspiration on the topic of "Recycle like the Romans" on this year's International Museum Day. The inhabitants of the Roman House will give you an insight into life before plastic and electricity. Get a feel for what it was like to live in the ancient world with our free, hands-on activities including baking bread using flour ground in the Roman mill.
All hands-on activities and admission to the museum and the roman house are free of charge.
Programme in and around the Roman House and Museum
10:00–17:00
- Roman men and women perform in the Roman House
- Sample authentic Roman snacks prepared according to an ancient recipe in the Roman House
- Roman games in the Museum portico
- Archaeologists answer questions about the exhibition and recycling in ancient times
Bread baking in the bakery
11:00/13:00/15:00
- Grind your own flour in the Roman mill and take home a freshly baked roll. Booking is recommended.
