In 39 AD, important visitors arrive in Augusta Raurica. A luxurious banquet is prepared for them. The leftovers end up in a pit, where they remain hidden for almost 2000 years. Who are the invited guests? What dishes are served?

The finds from the ancient rubbish pit prove that only the finest food was served to the guests at this unique banquet. In the exhibition, visitors can learn how the exotic dishes found their way to Augusta Raurica, where the exquisite ingredients came from and which animals the found bones came from.

The supporting program includes a dialogue-based tour and a culinary workshop, as well as new formats such as an inclusive family tour, a tour for people with visual and hearing impairments, a scenic tour with the innkeeper Visurix and a Wednesday matinée that takes a closer look at the interplay between research and entertainment.
