Experience Roman cuisine: Lucullan delicacies
Explore the many flavours of Roman food.
The Romans, particularly the emperors, were epicures. They were notorious for their overindulgent lifestyle and enjoyed extravagant feasts with all manner of exotic delicacies. The Banquet of Trimalchio describes in considerable detail what was served at these feasts. Enjoy the chance to learn more about the "haute cuisine" of ancient Rome. Have a go at making some of the most popular delicacies then taste them for yourself.
In addition to fascinating historical context, you can expect a buffet of Roman delicacies which we prepare together. We will cook in Augusta Raurica's traditional bakery – using fire and no electricity.
